Rating System

Each review takes into consideration several dynamics. Common to all reviews are three categories: CD Length, Track Order and Performance. Most reviews will have additional categories rated such as: Music Selection, Composition, and Originality.

Each track is also rated based on the 5-star system.  Now with VISUAL HEAT, you can tell at a glance just how "hot" or how "not hot" any reviewed soundtrack is based on the color code assigned to each star rating:

General Soundtracks

Reviews of mainstream releases of feature or independent films.  Releases from major and smaller record labels such as Sony Classical, Varese Sarabande, Decca Records, Milan or Lakeshore Records.  iTunes releases would also qualify.  Such releases considered "general" would be:

  • Gladiator by Hans Zimmer

  • Braveheart by James Horner

     

Television and Game Soundtracks

Reviews of mainstream soundtrack releases from television shows or mini-series or special events or from a video game such as:

  • The Incredible Hulk by Joe Harnell

  • Jesus: The Epic Mini Series

  • Medal of Honor by Michael Giacchino

     

Special Releases and Compilations

Reviews of limited editions, collector's editions, promos or compilation releases:

  • From Face/Off to Shrek: The Music of John Powell

  • Epics by Erich Kunzel
