Best Score for a Dramatic Film - 2006 Cue Award

Lady in the Water (Soundtrack) by James Newton HowardNominees:

The Da Vinci Code (Hans Zimmer)
World Trade Center (Craig Armstrong)
Blood Diamond (James Newton Howard)
The Fountain (Clint Mansell)
Lady in the Water (James Newton Howard)
The Nativity Story (Mychael Danna)
We are Marshall (Christophe Beck)
United 93 (John Powell)

Winner: Lady in the Water
(James Newton Howard)

This is the second win for James Newton Howard's score this year.  The understated score for LADY IN THE WATER is effective as it meanders just below the surface.  Then, at the conclusion of the film, it fully reveals itself in an emotional orchestral splash.  In a category that would seem to be tightly contested, LADY IN THE WATER won fairly convincingly.
