EASTERN PROMISES BY HOWARD SHORE
It's
not as though composer Howard Shore hasn't received his share of honors
over the last few years, but, as per usual, the Academy seems to have
gone to sleep on this early 2007 film and score. Drawing
comparisons to John Williams SCHINDLER'S LIST and MUNICH, EASTERN
PROMISES features some of 2007's most evocative music - benefiting
heavily from the lead violin performance by Nicola Benedetti. Few
would likely have complained in seeing this score get a nomination over
the likes of MICHAEL CLAYTON this year. We see it year after year, "The
Academy doth move in mysterious ways." While they have missed the
boat again, we aren't making that same mistake and hereby honor EASTERN
PROMISES with a 2007 CUE AWARD! |
